Job summary

Compliance Management International (CMI) in New Bern, NC seeks an Environmental, Health and Safety Technician to support the implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs. You will promote a proactive safety culture, ensure OSHA and ISO 45001 compliance, and reduce workplace risks.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, at least 5 years of EHS experience, and knowledge of incident investigations, audits, and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Electrical safety a plus.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO 4501, and hazard mitigation principles.
• Experience with inspections, training, audits, and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage safety programs in compliance with OSHA, ISO 45001, and internal standards.
• Serve as the site lead for ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.
• Conduct and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Identify hazard controls and recommend process and equipment improvements.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
• Review new equipment and facility plans for safety compliance.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Handling workman’s compensation claims.
• Prepare and submit required safety reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support safety committees and employee engagement initiatives.
• Deliver safety training to employees and contractors.
• Conduct audits and contribute to safety performance improvement.
• Liaise with emergency services and health professionals as needed.
• Analyze safety data to identify trends and inform preventative actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
