Job summary

WGNSTAR in Austin, TX is seeking an EHS Specialist to conduct audits, lead investigations, and deliver safety training across customer sites. The role focuses on compliance with government regulations and company policies, with emphasis on reducing workplace risks and reporting on EHS performance.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in safety, an associate degree in electronics/engineering or military equivalent, and OSHA COHE/LOTO certifications; experience with hazardous materials is a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience in a safety role.
  • Associate's degree in electronics, engineering, or military equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, lab, plant, or cleanroom environments.
  • OSHA safety certifications and/or COHE/LOTO.
  • Proven ability to create, interpret, and present safety reports.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and safety management activities at customer sites to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions in partnership with supervisors and management.
  • Deliver EHS training sessions and presentations to employees and stakeholders to enhance safety awareness and reduce workplace risks.
  • Communicate EHS performance metrics, findings, and updates during regular customer meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding safety‑related topics and expectations.
  • Prepare and present detailed safety reports and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.

Schedule: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm

Pay Rate: $30-$35/hr DOE

Location: Austin, TX

Position Type: Full Time

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a safety role, Field Service Engineeror Equipment Technician capacity.
  • Associate's degree in electronics, engineering, or other related field of study preferred, or Military Equivalent.
  • Experience in manufacturing, lab, plant, or cleanroom environments, including work in pressure‑controlled facilities.
  • OSHA safety certifications and/or completed safety classes, including COHE/LOTO.
  • Proven ability to create, interpret, and present safety reports.
  • Experience working with or handling hazardous materials.

Physical Effort/Activities: May be required to walk up to 5+miles per day, able to be on feet for 8-10 hrs at a time, able tobend, twist, push/pull, crouch, kneel in confined spaces, work at heights, on a ladder, and lift up to 50-75 pounds. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
