Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our manufacturing operations in the Springfield area. You will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and site policies, maintain records, manage the SDS system, and support waste management across the facility.

You will conduct inspections, lead risk assessments, support JHAs, safety training, incident investigations, and drive continuous improvement to reduce injuries and environmental impact.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing safety or EHS role.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and general safety compliance requirements.
• Preferred: Lockout/Tagout programs and machine guarding experience.
• Experience assisting with forklift training and safety audits.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors on the production floor.
• Analytical skills to support data tracking and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
• Maintain safety records, permits, and compliance files; manage SDS database and chemical inventory.
• Support waste management processes and proper waste handling.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and risk identifications in production areas.
• Identify unsafe conditions and track corrective actions to closure.
• Assist in JHAs and risk assessments; participate in 5S and CI events.
• Lead safety training, orientation for new hires, and safety talks.
• Support safety committees and engagement initiatives; promote safety communications.
• Track EHS metrics and prepare monthly reports; maintain audit trackers and action logs.
• Provide recommendations to improve safety processes and programs.
