Job summary

Davis-Standard is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead safety and environmental compliance across its Pawcatuck, CT operations. You will direct training, policy development, and regulatory liaison activities to prevent incidents and ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local laws.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Health and Safety or related field and a minimum of 5+ years in a manufacturing EHS environment.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of training and supervision of staff in safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee continuous improvement of the EHS & Sustainability program.
  • Liaise with OSHA, EPA and local regulatory agencies.
  • Manage non-conformities from inspections and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop policies, procedures, training, and budget for EHS compliance.
  • Develop and monitor EHS KPIs and report performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations at the Pawcatuck, CT site.
  • Provide employee training on EHS topics and proper safety equipment use.
  • Conduct EHS assessments and root-cause investigations of incidents.
  • Identify and implement sustainability initiatives and metrics.

Job description

This position is responsible for management of all safety and environmental compliance issues related to OSHA, EPA, federal, state and local agencies. This position will possess a high level of authority in regards to training & guiding employees based on safety needs with the goal of eliminating workplace accidents/injuries/illnesses, reducing work related injury costs, and complying with all environmental, safety and health laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee continuous improvement related to the EHS & Sustainability program.
  • Act as the liaison between Davis-Standard and regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and other local agencies.
  • Manage non-conformities resulting from inspections.
  • Develop and implement consistent policies, procedures, best practices, training, and budget to ensure overall EHS compliance.
  • Manage the development, monitoring, and reporting of EHS key performance indicators and provide benchmark data to better understand Davis-Standard’s EHS performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, permits, rules and laws, pertaining to Davis-Standard operations at the Pawcatuck CT site.
  • Develop and implement employee training in areas such as EHS regulation compliance, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of various safety equipment.
  • Ensure local supervisors and leaders have the support and tools to ensure compliance at their facilities.
  • Implement EHS continuing education and training programs for managers and supervisors.
  • Perform EHS compliance assessments and develop action plans to correct deficiencies.
  • Oversee investigations and root cause assessments for all EHS incidents and near misses that occur at the Pawcatuck CT site.
  • Implement procedures to identify, evaluate, and correct hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals as well as Davis-Standard policies and procedures.
  • Assess and propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
  • Monitor, and track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.
  • Develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
  • Other related duties as determined necessary to support the EHS function.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Through education and experience must have the knowledge and ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
  • Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health administration regulations and environmental regulation.
  • Bachelor degree preferably in Industrial Health and Safety, Environmental sciences or engineering or other business related discipline.
  • 5+ Years in an Environmental / Safety role in a Manufacturing Environment.
Preferred

Bachelors or better in Environmental and Earth Science.
