Job summary

Rain for Rent is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate Environmental, Health, Transportation, and Safety programs across the organization. This role reports to the Sr. Regional EHS Manager and requires up to 50% travel.

In-person work at Rain for Rent offices/branches is expected. Responsibilities include OSHA compliance, incident investigations, training program development, risk assessments, and driving continuous improvement across regions to maintain safety and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combinations considered.
  • Five years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to work with regulatory agencies and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Engage leadership to ensure accountability to safety expectations.
  • Ensure OSHA safety and health compliance; inspect areas and train staff.
  • Develop improvement plans for branches and departments.
  • Lead incident reviews and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate safety programs.
  • Investigate vehicle incidents and recommend changes for compliance.
  • Analyze reports from governmental agencies to determine actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments for accidents, exposure, and equipment.
  • Monitor DOT compliance and driver records.
  • Develop and maintain company safety policies.
  • Contribute to facility design and safe work procedures.
  • Mentor staff on safety culture and performance.
  • Manage projects and coordinate cross-team collaboration.

Plans, directs, and coordinates Environmental, Health, Transportation, and Safety programs of the organization to proactively avoid and eliminate all related risks and losses by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Under the direction of the Sr. Regional EHS Manager, the Regional Safety Manager is the regional expert and resource in occupational safety and health. Frequent overnight travel (up to 50%) by land and/or air.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage the Regional Vice Presidents, Regional Managers and Area Managers to ensure proper accountability to Rain For Rent expectations.
  • OSHA Safety and Health Compliance & Training – Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety and health policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures, recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.
  • Develop and present plans for department, regional, and branch continuous improvement based on the needs of each branch.
  • Assists branches with incident reviews and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify company safety training needs, develop, and coordinate safety and health training programs.
  • Investigates incidents involving company vehicles, interviews witnesses and drivers to determine possible causes of incidents, and make recommendations to the Sr. Regional EHS Manager for changes needed to improve compliance with governmental regulatory agency and company procedures.
  • Analyzes reports obtained from governmental agencies to determine appropriate action.
  • Confirms and performs risk assessments concerning such problems as accident statistics, employee exposure, equipment maintenance, and equipment failure reports. Recommends measures to improve safety records and to protect equipment.
  • Monitors Department of Transportation compliance including regulatory requirement for driver records and documentation, BIT compliance, and GPS Scorecard improvement.
  • Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of company policies.
  • Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures, and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Mentor, coach, and encourage employees, supervisor, and managers on safety culture, employee safety performance improvements, safety committee and supervisor and peer interactions.
  • Manage projects assigned meeting expectations and timelines.
  • Coordinate projects with team members assigned, answer requests for help/assistance/information from teammates working on projects or needing knowledge and opinions.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the operation.
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is required. Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Ability to effectively deal with other people, especially other company personnel, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractor personnel is also required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor changing weather conditions and well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The employee is periodically exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and heat (non-weather), vibration, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
