Job description

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance Coordinator (EHS/QA) is responsible for leading the facility's Environmental, Health & Safety programs and ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 standards, OSHA regulations, and other applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements.

In addition to EHS responsibilities, this role supports the Quality Assurance function by managing all customer product returns, inspecting final products, conducting in-process and subassembly inspections, performing Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections, and managing nonconforming materials, including final products and subassemblies.

This position also assists with special testing, statistical process control (SPC) analysis, and internal quality audits. The EHS/QA Assurance Coordinator performs in-process inspections, provides work-cell-specific quality training, and partners with production teams to promote continuous improvement, product quality, and compliance with company quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental Health & Safety:
  • Serve as Chair member of facility Safety Committee.
  • Lead site training program specific to EHS and ISO 14001 EMS.
  • Responsible for the site's hazardous waste program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, while coordinating waste characterization, storage, vendor management, and timely off-site disposal.
  • Provide key support ISO 14001 site certification and facilitation of external audits.
  • Key point of contact for Frederick City/County, and/or other state local authorities to support site permits and related regulatory requirements.

6. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions in the workplace; and lead related corrective action efforts to mitigate safety issues.

7. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations and with site and corporate policies; maintain applicable records.

8. Coordinate and conduct scheduled emergency evacuation drills, chemical spill drill, documenting results and implementing corrective actions as needed

9. Lead site accident/incident investigations; report incidents and maintain records.

  • Employ and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct in-process inspection and testing on sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct final inspection on product prior to shipment to customers.
  • Assess sub-assemblies and parts to determine competency of employees to produce quality parts.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and develop action plans to address quality issues.
  • Record and report efforts to eliminate internal and external failures.
  • Support improvement efforts through data collection, trend analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Support gathering and analyzing statistical process control data to recommend action points and improve process controls.
  • Assist with creating and updating written instructions for inspection and testing.Assist in conducting internal audits throughout the organization.
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) through, CAPA, nonconformance management, training, internal audits, and direct support for customer, ISO 9001, ISO14001, and HazLoc certification audits.
  • Support incoming inspection operations by verifying incoming materials meet quality requirements, reviewing inspection results, initiating nonconformance reports as needed, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Background:
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a manufacturing setting to include Quality Assurance and Environmental Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Internal audit experience is preferred
  • Must be a U.S. Person within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Skills:

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
