Job summary

LayerZero Power Systems, Inc. seeks an EHS Specialist to lead and coordinate environmental, health, and safety programs across service and engineering teams. You will ensure OSHA/EPA/NFPA compliance, produce clear procedures, and drive continuous improvement on customer sites and in R&D environments.

The role requires strong technical writing, field experience, and willingness to travel to customer sites. Bachelor’s in a related field and 5+ years of safety management are required, ASP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 5+ years of safety management experience, preferably in electrical/industrial field service.
• ASP or equivalent credential preferred.
• Proficiency with OSHA/EP A/NFPA standards and EHS software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce safety compliance across Services and Engineering.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments with timely corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses with CAPA follow-up.
• Maintain injury/illness records, training logs, permits, and EHS docs.
• Develop and implement EHS programs in line with OSHA, EPA, NFPA standards.
• Deliver EHS training including lockout/tagout and emergency response.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to tailor programs by site.
• Support ISO certification efforts and travel to customer sites as needed.

Position Summary:

The EHS Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This position will support our Service and Engineering teams and is responsible for developing and supporting the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of our environmental, health, and safety programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA and other applicable standards.

This role ensures documents and procedures are in compliance with OSHA and industry standards, mitigates risk during service activities at the customer site, within our Engineering and R&D Teams, and promotes a culture of safety across geographically distributed teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical writing skills with working knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices, particularly in the field, but also industrial, and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and enforce safety compliance across the Services and Engineering departments. ?
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; report findings and ensure timely corrective actions. ?
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up on corrective and preventive actions. ?
• Maintain accurate EHS documentation including injury and illness records, training logs, and permits where required.
• Support prevention through design initiatives and processes.
• Support the rollout of new safety or environmental initiatives by helping distribute materials and track completion of training or compliance tasks. ?
• Deliver EHS training programs for new hires and existing employees (e.g., lockout/tagout, electrical, emergency response). ?
• Assist with ergonomics assessments and injury prevention initiatives. ?Assist in writing and updating EHS procedures, policies, and programming documents (e.g., Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Electrical Safety, etc.). ?
• Assist in writing of Job Hazard Analysis and site-specific safety programs.
• Maintain customer qualification portals and documentation requirements. (ISNetWorld, AVETTA, HighWire etc.)
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to customize programs to specific site or departmental needs.
• Support the facility’s ISO certification efforts, if applicable. ?
• Partner with cross functional teams to integrate safety into daily practices. ?
• Respond to internal and external EHS audits or inspections; help coordinate action plans for compliance.
• Track and report on key EHS metrics (e.g., incident rate, near misses, training completion). ?
• Translate regulatory and corporate requirements into clear, actionable written procedures and guides.

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems or platforms.?
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA 1910, 1926 and 1904 regulations, EPA regulations, and NFPA standards.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in electrical or industrial field service.
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or equivalent credential preferred.
• Experience conducting field audits, training, and incident investigations.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, Technical Writing, or a related field.
