Job summary

People Architects partners with a Chemical Manufacturing company to recruit an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager for their Cleveland, Ohio facility. This hands-on role will own, build, and improve the EHS program, partnering with plant leadership, operations, engineering, maintenance, HR, and employees to create documented, repeatable processes and a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years leading EHS programs in a manufacturing environment.
Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Must hold, or be able to obtain within one year of hire, a Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator Certification.
Proficiency with EHS data, documentation, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

Own and lead environmental compliance programs (SPCC, hazardous waste, landfill, wastewater, stormwater, air permitting).
Conduct inspections, identify issues, and ensure corrective actions are tracked and closed.
Develop and deliver required environmental training for employees and contractors.
Manage environmental samples, data analysis, and regulatory reporting.
Oversee EHS labs and wastewater treatment operations, ensuring performance stays within limits.
Serve as primary site contact for regulatory agencies and internal corporate EHS teams.
Lead health and safety programs, reduce incidents, and drive a proactive safety culture.
Lead or support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
