Job summary

Texas Institute for Electronics seeks an EHS Manager to develop and oversee environmental, health, and safety programs within a semiconductor fabrication facility in Austin, TX. You will partner across departments to proactively manage risk and ensure a safe workplace in a complex manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include leading hazard assessments, managing EHS policies, and coordinating training, audits, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

  • BS in a related field of science or engineering (4 years of direct applicable experience as a substitute)
  • 5+ years of EHS experience, including direct experience in semiconductor fabrication facilities
  • 2+ years supervisory/leadership experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident) as per sponsor requirements

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Program Management: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Develop, implement, maintain, and audit EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation: Lead hazard assessments (chemical, electrical, ergonomic, process safety, etc.) and implement controls to mitigate risks associated with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including cleanroom operations.
  • Environmental Management & Sustainability: Oversee air emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste, and chemical management programs. Drive sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and water conservation.
  • Operational Resources Oversight: Manage full‑time EHS Coordinator personnel, including day‑to‑day supervision, administration of duties, and performance management. Provide leadership and oversight for EHS support personnel and external service providers, including safety, environmental, and emergency response partners, to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
  • Incident Prevention, Investigation & Reporting: Manage EHS related incident reporting systems, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Track and trend safety metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans (chemical spills, gas releases, fires, medical events, etc.). Coordinate drills and serve as a key leader during emergency situations.
  • Training & Culture Development: Design and deliver EHS training programs. Promote a strong safety culture through engagement initiatives, audits, and leadership coaching in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or CHMM
  • 10+ years of EHS experience, including direct experience in semiconductor fabrication facilities
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and risk‑based process safety in semiconductor environments
  • Experience leading EHS programs supporting new fab construction/start‑up
