Job summary

UNITED PLATE GLASS COMPANY, INC. in Butler, PA, seeks an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and continuously improve our safety and environmental programs.

This hands-on role balances production floor presence with office collaboration to maintain a safe, compliant workplace. You will develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs, ensure OSHA/EPA compliance, conduct inspections and audits, and lead incident investigations with root-cause

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, and/or Environmental Science is required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety training and accident investigations.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations and collaborate with leadership to implement practical compliance solutions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while building positive relationships across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company safety and environmental programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments throughout the facility.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, environmental records, permits, and required regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate employee safety orientation and ongoing training programs.
  • Manage Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, machine guarding, confined space, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and other safety programs.
  • Oversee emergency response planning, fire prevention, and evacuation procedures.
  • Monitor workplace conditions and recommend improvements to reduce hazards and injuries.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and injury reporting.
  • Serve as the primary contact during regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Track and report key safety performance metrics and communicate results to leadership.
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to proactively identify and eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Stay current on changing environmental and workplace safety regulations.
  • Conduct monthly safety committee gatherings and ensure correct documentation of these events.
