Job summary

SPX FLOW, now ITT Flow Technologies, seeks an EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety programs. You will develop and sustain EHS systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote accountability through site leadership collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, or related field with EHS management emphasis.
  • 7–10 years’ experience with a wide range of EHS issues.

Job description

The EHS Manager position is responsible for the development, implementation and sustainment of EHS programs and systems to ensure the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors, protect the environment, and maintain compliance with all global and local regulations. The EHS Manager will actively engage and involve employees at all levels of the organization to drive a culture characterized by accountability, commitment and teamwork.

The EHS Manager provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental health and safety programs, monitors compliance with applicable EHS laws and company policies and procedures and reports results directly to the Site Leader. The position has direct accountability to the Site Leader.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support the Site Leader in delivering the EHS improvement program at the assigned facility.
  • Ensure close coordination with facility leader and that appropriate plans are in place for the implementation and adherence to company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Partner with Facility Lead to develop EHS strategy and improvement agendas.
  • Participate as a key member of facility’s leadership team, driving compliance solutions and EHS simplification through the business cycles.
  • Implement and provide on-going support for the facility risk management and risk assessment process.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operationalization of EHS programs, procedures, and tools and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company best practices.
  • Vigorously lead /drive EHS operationalization and accountability to all employees through partnering with the local leadership team.
  • Participate as an effective team member and colleague sharing ideas, best practices, and learnings to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the overall business.
  • Compliance Assurance
  • Monitor compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of emerging EHS regulations for applicability and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local team, community and regulators.
  • Interface with external bodies such as the EHS and Environment Agency to ensure legal/policy compliance and participate in any subsequent communication to stakeholders within the business.
  • Interface with other company facilities to ensure best practices are being shared and adopted.
  • Prepare for and participate in facility self-inspections and audits, and 3rd party facility assessments.
  • Provide facility-level guidance to develop and promptly implement audit action plans, and provide appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary environmental permits.
  • Make appropriate requests for resources to ensure proper management of regulated substance requirements regarding restrictions and prohibitions related to environmental aspects of products.
  • Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Assist the facility leadership team in developing strategies to Implement facility-specific EHS policies, practices and procedures aligned with regional and corporate objectives. Facilitate compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
  • Partner with the Site Leader to implement effective processes for ongoing injury analysis, risk assessment / reduction and self-inspection.
  • Assist facility in the identification and development of Health & Safety, Sustainability & Environmental capital investment opportunities as required. Ensure that EHS is considered in any plant or product changes, acquisitions/dispositions and capital projects.
  • Manage EHS Metrics Dashboard for the facility and validate monthly data.
  • Management System
  • Establish and facilitate implementation/sustainability of the facility-level integrated EHS management system that meets the company EHS Management System minimum requirements. Facilitate annual review of systems.
  • Assist and guide facility leadership on EHS management system goals, objectives, and associated implementation plans (with measureable attributes).
  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives/plans as necessary to align to EHS management system objectives.
  • Facilitate development and implementation of environmental sustainability goals and track progress.
  • Coordinate and align facility EHS management system initiatives regional and corporate guidance, policies and objectives.
  • Ensure relevant EHS training requirements are identified and that appropriate training packages are developed and delivered to support the implementation of company standards/procedures. Ensure that training programs are reviewed in line with changing policy/legislation.
  • Assist Facility Leadership in implementing an effective system of response to all incidents per company policy guidelines.
  • Ensure facility reports incidents as required per company policy.
  • Facilitate Root-Cause analysis and identification of effective countermeasures for EHS incidents as appropriate.
  • Additional Duties
  • Provide EHS expertise and support as directed by the Site Leader and Corporate EHS leadership.
  • Support external and internal auditing processes for other facility locations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work and communicate with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EHS laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in industrial process risk assessment, hazard identification, and development and implementation of effective mitigation measures.
  • Proficiency in EHS consensus standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and controls, including but not limited to OSHA, NFPA, ACGIH, EPA, and ANSI.
  • Demonstrated experience building and implementing injury prevention and EHS compliance programs.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
  • Exhibit a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Work well under stress with the ability to deliver on time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, engineering, or related field with EHS management emphasis and significant experience in a related position and/or training or, equivalent combination of education and experience in related field
  • Seven to Ten years’ experience with wide range of EHS issues.
