EHS Manager

Pay Rate: $122,000-$162,600

Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Physical Location: International Paper – New Bern Mill, 1785 Weyerhaeuser Road, Vanceboro, NC 28586

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Responsible for all facets of safety (including fire safety and fire systems), health, environmental performance, central lab services, and mill security.
  • As a member of the Lead Team, interface directly with community leaders and regulatory agencies to represent the mill within the community and region.
  • Ensure the mill complies with all applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Manage all regulatory reporting requirements and permitting processes.
  • Support all safety and environmental incident investigation processes, including reviewing investigations and corrective actions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems, procedures, and training to achieve an accident-free and environmental incident-free mill.
  • Implement mill and company health and safety programs to identify and reduce risk from hazards.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements on time, both internal and external.
  • Manage improvements and changes to sustain results in EHS systems.
  • Develop and manage a detailed budget for all areas of responsibility and contribute to cost reduction efforts in both areas of responsibility and the mill in general.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years EHS leadership experience in a complex regulatory environment.
  • Technical degree in an applicable engineering field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Open to relocation.
  • Promotion of safety leadership and drive engagement throughout the workforce to create a resilient safety culture.
  • Relationship building with the Mill team, workforce at large, and local community leaders.
  • Practice and promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to effectively convey priorities and concepts to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to drive changes to achieve IP Vision 2030 Goals for EHS and Sustainability.
