Job description

What we’re building

The marine industry supports recreation, global commerce, and national defense. And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We’re now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. Now we’re extending our platform to commercial applications, starting with tugs, ferries, and defense, with years worth of signed contracts and a pipeline that spans every vessel type on the water.

The technology is proven, the momentum is building, and the opportunity is enormous. The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is a self-motivated builder with the ability to create safety systems, who can adapt quickly in a dynamic environment, and effectively balances regulatory compliance with practical solutions to support our growth. We pride ourselves on transparency and operate in a lean, high-trust environment that encourages everyone to take ownership over their domain.

You will work from our manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. Given that we’re a startup, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment that requires adaptability. Still, there are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant in this role.

  • Managing safety ticketing system and associated metrics
  • Leading accident/incidents investigations, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actions; Managing occupational and/or workers compensation injuries
  • Identifying proactive workplace safety opportunities in a manufacturing environment and documenting safety inspections
  • Owning all hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including proper handling, labeling, and storage
  • Recognizing requirements and ensuring compliance to safety programs and standards including: hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, power & hand-held tools, electrical, emergency response, and chemical management
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Occupational Safety or a related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of managing and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety programs in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, CUPA, SCAQMD, NIOSH)
  • Working knowledge of ANSI standards

  • Startup or high-growth company experience
  • Experience establishing safety culture in young organizations
  • Proactive safety mindset
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing
  • Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace
  • Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy
