The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role is responsible for developing and fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS regulations, policies, and standards.
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role is responsible for developing and fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS regulations, policies, and standards.
The EHS Manager develops, implements, and continuously improves plant safety and environmental programs that support the organization's strategic objectives and annual EHS plan. Working collaboratively with plant leadership, the EHS Manager provides guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and employees on all EHS matters and serves as the primary resource for regulatory compliance and safety performance.
Key responsibilities include leading risk assessments, safety audits, environmental compliance activities, employee training, incident investigations, corrective and preventive actions, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Manager coordinates and facilitates plant safety committees and drives employee engagement to create a proactive safety culture where hazards are identified, addressed, and eliminated.
This position is accountable for ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements while minimizing organizational risk. The EHS Manager monitors key performance indicators, analyzes safety trends, and implements initiatives that reduce injuries, environmental impact, and regulatory exposure.
The role exercises independent judgment on matters that can significantly affect employee safety, environmental compliance, financial performance, corporate reputation, and community relations. Decisions include evaluating workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, implementing corrective actions, and promoting safe work practices throughout the facility. The position also supports incident investigations, workers' compensation management, and regulatory inspections as needed.
The EHS Manager is expected to work closely with all levels of the organization to build accountability, reinforce safe behaviors, and create a workplace where safety and environmental stewardship are core organizational values.
