Qualifications

  • Higher Education certification in Health & Safety preferred.

  • Five years of experience in SHE management or as a SHE advisor in relevant sectors preferred.

Job description

Our established client is looking for an EHS Manager in their manufacturing facility. This leadership role will collaborate with all levels of the facility to enhance the safety culture, lead all EHS programs and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate would have 5 plus years of EHS leadership in a chemical, coatings, plastics or a pharmaceutical environment. The SHE Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing Safety, Health, Environmental (SHE), Process Safety, and Security programs across all U.S. operations. The role ensures business activities are conducted responsibly by protecting the environment and safeguarding the health and safety of employees, customers, contractors, visitors, and the communities in which they operate.

The SHE Manager promotes and drives compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as their policies, standards, and best practices. Working closely with site leadership teams, this position supports the development of a proactive safety culture where risks are identified, assessed, and addressed before incidents occur.

The scope of responsibility includes occupational health and safety, process safety management, environmental compliance, security management, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation across all U.S. manufacturing facilities, warehouses, laboratories, and office locations. The SHE Manager serves as a strategic partner to site and operational leadership, ensuring consistent SHE performance, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance throughout their U.S. operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan an active role in setting SHE as an organizational key value and influencing leadership to lead SHE by example.
  • Manage Health, Safety, Environmental, and Process Safety topics, including coordination of management systems and certifications, as applicable.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field and address observed unsafe conditions in an immediate, clear, and effective manner.
  • Support and approve investigations and analysis of SHE-related events; ensure root causes are identified and corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Work with affected departments to develop controls as needed.
  • Complete and oversee risk assessments to rank hazards, identify gaps, and develop and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Advise leadership regarding risk ranking and prioritization.
  • Remain accountable for SHE-related topics on submissions of Expenditure Proposals (EPs).
  • Share and promote relevant knowledge, best practices, and experience within the company.
  • Ensure proper SHE principles are applied in Management of Change and Work Permits.
  • Assure reliable data in SHE reporting practices.
  • Technically contribute to project definition and implementation of Best Available Techniques (BATs) and engineering standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers.
  • Work with local authorities, including Labor, Health, and Environmental Authorities, and with local company committees and workers council when required.
  • Define and implement appropriate Emergency Response Plan for site(s).
  • Define and manage the SHE budget.
Salary

$90,000 - $110,000
