Job summary

Keel is seeking a locations leader & SME in environmental, health and safety to develop and carry out procedures, ensuring zero OSHA citations across locations. You will lead safety committees, manage workers' compensation processes, and collaborate with production teams to drive safety improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years in safety/OSHA compliance within manufacturing, plus strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent communication. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • 4+ years of safety, environmental, health, training, security, risk management & workers comp, and OSHA experience/compliance.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing work environment preferred.
  • 4+ years Microsoft software application intermediate to advance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Investigate injuries and notify management with pertinent details.
  • Maintain, post, and report OSHA logs for all locations.
  • Partner with production and operations for safety walks and issue resolution.

Your Mission:

To serve as the Keel locations leader & SME in environmental, health and safety by developing and carrying out procedures in line with the organization that effectively control environmental compliance; required team member training, workers compensation, case management, accident, and health exposures in the company; and to maintain zero OSHA citations.

Explore the Depth of the Role:
  • Assists employees and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.
  • Investigate injuries in conjunction with employees and staff personnel. Notifies management staff with pertinent details.
  • Maintains, posts, and reports OSHA logs for all locations.
  • Works in partnership with production and operations teams for safety walks to work towards resolving issues identified in lock step with those teams.
  • Serve as the captain/leader to the company’s safety champions committee, including the monthly meetings and selecting/recruiting new members to join the sessions.
  • Main POC for all worker's compensation cases including first response, physician visits, liaison with insurance carrier, government reporting, etc. Drives injured employees to receive medical attention after accidents and incidents.
  • Develop and report all necessary government EHS documents for the organization.
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
  • Guides and assists plant personnel at locations with safety and health issues.
  • Implements and maintains a first responder program, including ongoing training. Maintains certification as a First Responder and acts in that capacity as needed.
  • Reviews and owns all safety related electronic training programs from new hire onboarding to required courses by job role, refresher training, and annual compliance.
  • Overviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Knowledgeable of federal and state safety laws relative to the company.
  • Prepares written emergency preparedness plans for the facility that incorporates OSHA and EPA requirements, and national and local fire protection codes.
  • Evaluates and improves costs associated with safety equipment.
  • Conducts and oversees training related to use of overhead cranes, forklifts and mobile equipment and maintains the related electronic records.
  • Develop daily and weekly safety topics for dissemination to all plant personnel including the annual review of these topics to keep them fresh, relevant, and up to date to the ever-changing landscape that is normal for our industry around safety.
  • Maintains & updates quarterly and annual safety related Metrics for assigned plant locations.
  • Assist with corrective and preventive actions as necessary to resolve issues related to accidents and equipment failures on the production floor.
  • Report investigation findings to the Director of People Operations/CPO.
  • Group member in the spirit of safety first and full partnership to support the business needs.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Mission Readiness
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • 4+ years safety, environmental, health, training, security, risk management & workers comp, and OSHA experience/compliance.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing work environment is preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
  • 4+ years Microsoft software application intermediate to advance experience.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally while working as a team to support the business in full partnership.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standings.
  • Must have excellent math and administrative skills in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be an excellent multi-tasker and time-management guru in managing multiple projects/items.

  • May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
  • May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver.
