Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a seasoned Safety & Environmental professional to lead the plant's environmental management system, improve safety culture, and drive regulatory compliance. The role focuses on reducing injuries, overseeing waste and air quality programs, and delivering training across the site.

You will liaise with regulators, conduct investigations, and implement continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a zero-harm mindset within a large industrial operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a safety and environmental role within an industrial setting.
• Experience driving a cultural shift towards safety through engagement and leadership.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to implement action plans based on data analysis.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs and ISO 14001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the plant's environmental management system, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting initiatives that reduce environmental impact.
• Drive a cultural shift towards safety through engagement and leadership, focusing on minimizing work-related injuries.
• Manage safety and environmental programs, training, and compliance monitoring.
• Engage all levels of the workforce to drive cultural change and meet environmental performance goals.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Provide comprehensive training on environmental programs and safety procedures.
• Develop and roll out motivational programs to enhance environmental awareness.
• Ensure compliance with industrial hygiene testing and establish continuous improvement plans.
• Oversee the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring proper handling and disposal.
• Implement proactive measures to enhance air and waste management controls.
• Present safety and environmental training tailored to site-specific needs.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $105,000-122,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
