Description

The EHS Manager provides comprehensive leadership, support, and guidance to the Greensboro site on implementing the organizational Environmental, Health and Safety Management Programs. The EHS Manager is responsible for site compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements. This integral role interacts with managers, technical staff, operators, and customers to ensure regulatory and company EHS requirements and goals are achieved. The EHS Manager leads site efforts to prevent incidents, accidents and events which are dangerous or harmful to employees, contractors, property, or the environment. The EHS Manager ensures the sites are in compliance with applicable, local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, CAA, RCRA, CWA, CERCLA, EPCRA, SARA, PSM) as well as the internal requirements established by Aurorium.

Responsibilities
  • Practices and re‑enforces all site safety policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Provides daily guidance and direction in EHS programs to all employees, contractors and supervisors to ensure a common and effective approach
  • Manages key environmental programs, recordkeeping, reporting, and permitting (Air, Chemical Management, Wastewater, Noise, Stormwater, Hazardous Material site permitting activities, hot work, LO/TO, safe work permit, etc.)
  • Leads and manages on‑site EHS team members and contractors
  • Participates in emergency response drills and critiques
  • Supports Corporate EHS initiatives through participation in the EHS council and sub‑teams
  • Conducts regular walk‑through of all work areas to identify hazards, evaluate controls, recommend improvements, communicate with associates, and record appropriately
  • Monitors industrial hygiene and ergonomic assessments
  • Determines safety best practices and trains individuals and teams
  • Partners cross‑functionally to accomplish all regulatory training and related activities to employees and contractors
  • Leads and tracks incident investigations to identify root causes drives corrective action efforts to prevent reoccurrence
  • Tracks and reports EHS performance for the Berkeley Heights and DWG sites
  • Maintains and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all safe work practices and equipment
  • Participates in Management of Change (MOC) reviews and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Manages required reporting relative to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
  • Interfaces directly with outside regulatory agencies and works with Site Director and Corporate EHS to respond to regulatory inquiries
  • Organizes and maintains Safety and Environmental records
  • Manages and maintains the site OSHA 300 logs
  • Facilitates the transition to solid associate led EHS systems and provides leadership and resource support to local Site Leadership, Champions, and Safety Committee
  • Manages the Workers Compensation process with the appropriate vendor to achieve proper communication, management of claims, and quality care
  • Prepares and manages the EHS budget
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

Qualifications/Desired Skills
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or related technical field
Experience
  • 5-7 years of EHS experience within a chemical manufacturing facility
  • 3 years of leadership experience, including training and auditing for compliance
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to flex own style as needed to influence and drive results
  • Ability to work within a multi‑functional, global organizational structure and exhibits robust interpersonal skills
  • Self‑motivated and able to work within a fast‑paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which allow assessments of situations and opportunities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis leadership
  • Excellent proficiency within Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
