Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related field.
  • OSHA/EPA/other EHS regulations knowledge preferred.
  • Experience implementing ISO14001/ISO45001 or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain all EHS programs and compliance.
  • Lead ISO14001/ISO45001 initiatives and manage risk assessments.
  • Conduct audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Deliver EHS training on hazard communication, LOTO, machine guarding, and emergency response.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive safety culture across the site.

Our products can be used in a wide variety of industries, such as the automotive and office chair manufacturing industries, furniture technology, solar industry, medical technology, and many other industrial applications. This position will be located in our U.S. Headquarters in Gastonia, NC.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. The EHS Manager establishes goals and metrics, drives safety leadership, fosters a strong safety culture, and ensures environmental management best practices. As an integral member of the site leadership team, this role influences decision-making and promotes cross-functional collaboration to enhance workplace safety and compliance.

Job Functions:
  • Leads and/or assists in the implementation of comprehensive environmental, health and safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, including OSHA, DOT, NEC, ANSI.
  • Supports and maintains ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
  • Establishes policies, procedures, corrective actions necessary to maintain, track and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and lead plant EHS initiatives that fosters a culture of safety excellence by drive employee engagement and accountability.
  • Adjusts programs/procedures according to new/changing regulations.
  • Leads safety related audit and inspection processes and open issues tracking.
  • Serves as technical resource and leads as needed for incident investigation, casual factor/root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Liaisons with and provides recommendations to senior leadership to develop, implement, and oversee site-wide EHS-related risks, solutions, and procedures.
  • Identifies and mitigates workplace hazards through risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
  • Maintains required regulatory records and ensures timely submission of reports and notifications per OSHA requirements.
  • Coordinates and communicates EHS policies and updates across all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Ensures proper environmental testing and compliance, including hazardous/non-hazardous waste management, wastewater, stormwater, air permitting, and chemical safety.
  • Develops and delivers EHS training on topics hazard communication, machine guarding, energy control (LOTO), industrial hygiene, fall protection, confined space entry, and emergency response.
  • Leads the safety committee and management team to resolve identified safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Assists in identifying and fulfilling safety-related training needs to ensure workforce competency and compliance.
  • Evaluates and recommends EHS-related equipment, protective devices, and facility modifications to enhance workplace safety.
  • Continuously assesses and improves safety programs to reduce injuries and enhance overall safety performance.
  • Ensure that all federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations are met, including the Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Workers’ Compensation regulations.
  • Provide oversight on medical care and Workers’ Compensation case management and communication.
  • Foster proactive employee-driven safety culture by encouraging participation and accountability across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications - Education, Training, Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification in OSHA standards preferred.
  • Certification in EPA and DOT Regulations preferred.
Job Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • 5-10 years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other EHS regulations.
  • Experience with management and implementation in ISO14001, ISO45001, IATF16949, or similar systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to be flexible regarding working hours.

  • Impact of Errors: Errors made in strategic, capital or business plans will impact performance. Errors made in the cost estimation for quotations will likely not be caught in subsequent operations and could have negative impact on the profitability of the company.
