Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions is seeking an EHS leader to drive environmental, health and safety compliance across our Texas facilities. The role focuses on audits, root cause analyses, and implementing preventive actions in partnership with operations and leadership.

The ideal candidate will manage permits (RCRA, stormwater, SPCC), support change initiatives, and lead safety training aligned with OSHA standards. Travel between NASP Texas sites will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Health & Safety or related program of study.
  • Experience administering safety training in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Experience in OSHA record-keeping for programs like LOTO, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, Injury Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Drive plant EHS compliance and manage EHS systems and activities; train and mentor supervisors and managers.
  • Collaborate with Operations and JHSC to foster proactive safety culture and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with permits and regulatory programs (RCRA, stormwater, SPCC, wastewater, etc.).
  • Lead root cause analyses for injuries and incidents; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate EHS audits and CAPA management; train employees on OSHA requirements.
  • Interface with federal, state, and local agencies on plant EHS issues; support management of Change processes.
  • Partner with site leadership to develop solutions and budget for EHS risk reduction and safety needs.

Job description

This role drives environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance, fosters an interdependent safety culture, and manages regulatory requirements, including RCRA and OSHA standards. Key responsibilities include conducting EHS audits, performing root cause analyses on incidents, and partnering with operations to implement preventive actions and training programs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Operations management to drive all plant environmental, health and safety compliance and management system functions and activities; train, monitor and mentor both supervisors and managers in applicable modules of the EHS Management System (EHS Insight).
  • Partner with Operation leadership and the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to build greater awareness and a proactive mindset, fostering employee engagement towards an interdependent safety culture within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with plant specific operating permits & required regulatory programs including RCRA (hazardous waste), stormwater, industrial wastewater, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and the facility’s Integrated Emergency Action Plan seeking guidance from the NASP Sr. Environmental Engineer or NASP EHS Director.
  • Participate in critical Management of Change processes by working with Operations and Engineering, to ensure employee safety and environmental compliance is considered and integrated in the design phase of new or proposed projects.
  • Lead & participate in root cause analysis of all injuries, incidents, and near-misses identifying underlying causes and driving the development, implementation, and verification of effective corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence and strengthen workplace safety performance.
  • Partner with Operations, supervisors, and the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) to strengthen safety focus, engagement, and accountability, driving continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive EHS audits within EHS Insight to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards, ensure compliance with regulatory and Mauser requirements, and manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) through assignment, tracking, and timely closure.
  • Coordinate and train employees and supervisors (train the trainer) in all subject areas required by OSHA training or covered under the Mauser NASP Safety Program.
  • Work with HR to ensure all new hires or transferred workers receive the required orientation training prior to starting their new assignments.
  • Interface with federal, state and local environmental and safety agencies on plant issues under the direction and guidance of the EHS Regional Manager or NASP EHS Director.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with OSHA, U.S. EPA, and applicable state environmental, health, and safety regulations in accordance with regulatory and company requirements, while adhering to the guidance, standards, and processes established through the EHS Management System.
  • Partner with site leadership at facilities to develop solutions to complex environmental, health and safety challenges; support budget planning to ensure current & future EHS compliance, risk reduction & operational safety needs are met.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, driving engagement, influencing outcomes, and championing the successful implementation of EHS-related change initiatives.
  • Perform various other safety and environmental-related tasks, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Health & Safety or related program of study and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an EH&S position;
  • Certifications in Environmental or Health & Safety related programs preferred;
  • Experience administering safety training in accordance with OSHA regulations;
  • Experience in OSHA record-keeping related to various programs including Lock out Tag Out, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, Injury Reporting and other related programs;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through critical thinking, objective analysis, continuous learning, and innovative solution development.
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, maintaining accuracy, composure, and sound judgment in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management and Clean Air Act reporting;
  • Ability to travel between the facilities assigned (NASP Texas sites - Mansfield, Garland, Bryan)
  • Intermediate computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook;
