Position Summary

Position: EHS Manager

Reports to: President & COO

Location: Easley, SC

Areas Of Responsibilities

The EH&S Manager is responsible for leading all environmental, health, and safety programs for a single-site metals manufacturing facility of approximately 200 employees. This is a newly established facility environment, requiring the buildout and maturation of EH&S programs, systems, and culture from the ground up. This role owns regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and the development of a strong, proactive safety culture.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS & IMPACT
  • This is a transformational leadership role responsible for elevating EH&S performance and culture across the organization.
  • Serve as a high-visibility leader, leading from the front with consistent shop floor presence across all shifts
  • Maintain a hands‑on, floor‑first approach with active employee engagement and real‑time problem solving
  • Drive change management efforts to implement new processes, standards, and behaviors
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and HR
  • Influence outcomes without direct authority and hold teams accountable
  • Build a culture of ownership by empowering frontline leaders
  • Actively engage employees to reinforce expectations and drive accountability
Core Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance (OSHA / EPA / State)

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulations
  • Manage programs including LOTO, machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, crane safety, HazCom, PPE, respiratory protection, confined space, and hot work
  • Oversee environmental programs including hazardous waste, air, stormwater, and chemical management
Safety Management System & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and improve EH&S policies and SOPs
  • Drive safety KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Implement structured safety management systems
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
  • Conduct audits, JHAs, and risk assessments
  • Identify hazards in fabrication and material handling operations
  • Partner with engineering on safe equipment and layout design
Incident Management, Injury Response & Work Comp
  • Lead and manage all incident and injury response activities
  • Serve as primary coordinator for workers’ compensation cases, including case tracking, return‑to‑work programs, and communication with carriers and medical providers
  • Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and documentation of all incidents and injuries
  • Drive effective corrective actions to reduce recurrence
Safety Committee Leadership
  • Establish, lead, and facilitate a cross‑functional Safety Committee consisting of peer leaders and shop floor personnel
  • Drive engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement through structured meetings and action tracking
  • Ensure representation from key functional areas and promote ownership of EH&S initiatives at all levels of the organization
Training & Workforce Engagement
  • Deliver training programs and track certifications
  • Drive employee engagement and safety culture
Emergency Preparedness & Response
  • Develop emergency plans and conduct drills
Metrics & Reporting
  • Track TRIR, DART, and other KPIs
  • Report performance to leadership
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CSP, ASP, or similar certifications preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour required
Experience
  • 7–10 years EH&S in manufacturing or metals fabrication
  • Experience managing a ~200 employee facility

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role may require travel to various company locations and sites, and the position may involve working in both office and manufacturing environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds at a time.
