Job summary

NDC is seeking an EHS Manager to develop, implement, and manage safety programs across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1 for government projects, and safety best practices.

You will lead training, site audits, investigations, and risk mitigation while coordinating with regulators, clients, and internal teams. This role requires travel up to 50% across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar certification preferred.
• OSHA 30/OSHA 500 (train the trainer) certification required.
• First Aid/CPR & AED certified (Instructor Level preferred).
• Experience with EMR tracking, site safety plans, and regulatory compliance.
• Minimum 5–7 years in construction safety management, focusing on drywall/government projects.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

EHS Manager

Summary/Objective

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s safety programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety within the organization, with a focus on commercial drywall and government contracting projects. The EHS Manager will conduct training, perform site audits, and proactively identify and mitigate risks to create a safe work environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce the company’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular job site inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
• Manages the worker's compensation program.
• Train employees and subcontractors in safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain safety records, including OSHA logs, incident reports, and training documentation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, clients, and internal personnel regarding safety compliance.
• Develop and oversee site-specific safety plans for projects.
• Manage and ensure compliance with government contracting safety requirements, including EMR tracking and reporting.
• Conduct and oversee Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and implement mitigation strategies.
• Create, update, and maintain corporate safety manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Track and analyze safety performance metrics (e.g., incident rates, near-miss reports), prepare reports for executive leadership.
• Willingness to travel to various company locations and job sites, which can be up to 50% depending on the company's footprint.
• Stay updated on new safety regulations and industry trends to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.

Secondary / Additional Responsibilities

• Assist project managers and field supervisors in developing and implementing project-specific safety measures.
• Coordinate with Human Resources on workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Oversee the procurement and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Develop and manage emergency response plans and drills.

Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees safety staff, safety coordinators, and ensures compliance among project managers and field supervisors.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in both office and construction site environments.
• Frequent exposure to construction site hazards, including dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site.

Expected Hours of Work

The work schedule may vary based on project demands, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Travel

50% of travel to the job sites is required in the D/M/V area and 5% of the time outside the D/M/V area. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Required Education and Experience

The salary range for this position is $75k- $130k a year (MidAtlantic Region). This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. As a result, starting pay may vary within the posted range.
