Job summary

Darigold is seeking an EHS Manager for our Caldwell Production Plant to lead and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs, with a focus on occupational safety and injury prevention.

You will partner with plant leadership and corporate EHS teams to identify hazards, implement controls, investigate incidents and drive a proactive safety culture across operations, maintenance, and quality functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, food processing, dairy or another industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading safety programs, incident investigations, hazard assessments and corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Idaho State, and Darigold safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections, observations, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations; ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Lead investigations of injuries, near misses, and other safety incidents, including root cause analysis.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics, trends and opportunities to Plant Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain Safety programs, procedures, records and regulatory documentation.

Darigold is seeking a skilled and motivated EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Manager to join the team at our Caldwell Production Plant. The EHS Manager will lead and continuously improve the plant’s Environmental, Health & Safety programs, with primary responsibility for occupational safety and injury prevention. The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining programs that protect employees, reduce workplace risk and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, local Health and Safety regulations and Darigold standards.

The EHS Manager serves as the plant’s subject matter expert for workplace safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation and regulatory compliance. They work closely with Plant Leadership, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources and Corporate EHS teams to identify hazards, implement effective controls, investigate incidents and to build a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager partners closely with the plant Environmental resource to ensure appropriate coordination between Environmental and Safety programs.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and continuously improve the plant’s Safety programs and Safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, State of Idaho and Darigold’s Safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections, workplace observations, hazard assessments and risk evaluations; ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Lead investigations of injuries, near misses, property damage and other safety incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and communicate safety performance metrics, trends and opportunities to Plant Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain required Safety programs, procedures, records and regulatory documentation.
  • Lead plant Safety training, including new employee orientation, refresher training and job-specific safety training.
  • Maintain and improve programs including LOTO, Hazard Communication, PPE, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Emergency Response, Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety and other applicable programs.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM), including ammonia refrigeration safety, Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), where applicable.
  • Provide safety oversight for maintenance activities, contractors, equipment installations, construction and other high-risk work.
  • Develop and support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response procedures and training.
  • Partner with Human Resources on Workers Compensation, return-to-work activities and injury prevention.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee activities and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support regulatory, customer, insurance and Corporate Safety audits and inspections.
  • Partner with the plant Environmental resource to coordinate environmental and safety requirements.
  • Coach leaders and employees on safe work practices and accountability.
  • Support safety-related continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, food processing, dairy or another industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading safety programs, conducting incident investigations, performing hazard assessments and implementing corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Experience with PSM, ammonia refrigeration safety or other highly hazardous process safety programs is preferred.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities and make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify hazards, assess risk and develop practical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions and safety program implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other standard business applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain required safety certifications.
  • Flexibility to support varying shifts, emergency situations, investigations and project requirements
