Heraeus Precious Metals seeks a strategic Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leader to direct EHS across North American operations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, occupational safety, chemistry, industrial hygiene or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing, chemical processing, recycling/refining, precious metals or another complex industrial environment.
  • Experience leading EHS programs across multiple sites or business units.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing EHS professionals and influencing senior operational leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, occupational safety, risk management, incident investigation and EHS audits.
  • Experience developing or improving EHS management systems; knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 preferred.
  • Strong understanding of applicable federal, state and local EHS requirements.
  • Excellent communication, change-leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and influence across a matrix organization.
  • Regular travel between North American locations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop regional EHS strategy aligned with business priorities and global Heraeus Precious Metals expectations.
  • Lead, develop and build the capability of EHS professionals across North American sites.
  • Establish consistent regional EHS standards, management systems, programs, metrics and performance expectations.
  • Provide strategic guidance on environmental compliance, permitting, sustainability and environmental risk reduction.
  • Strengthen occupational health and safety programs, including hazard identification, risk assessment, incident prevention and process safety.
  • Oversee significant incidents, investigations, corrective actions, audits, inspections and regulatory matters.
  • Monitor EHS performance and trends, using data to prioritize resources and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Site Leaders, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Legal and other functions on EHS priorities and business decisions.
  • Provide EHS leadership for capital projects, process changes, new technologies, acquisitions and facility expansions.
  • Collaborate with global EHS leadership to implement standards, share best practices and advance regional and global initiatives.

Position summary

Heraeus Precious Metals is seeking a strategic and hands-on Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leader to lead EHS across our North American operations. This role will establish and execute the regional EHS strategy, strengthen management systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and build a consistent culture of safety, environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.

The Regional EHS Leader will lead EHS professionals across multiple sites and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, Site Leaders and operational teams. The role will connect North American operations with the broader global Heraeus Precious Metals EHS organization and help ensure that EHS priorities support safe, compliant and sustainable business performance.

Key duties

Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or comparable credential.
  • ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 auditor experience; ISO 50001 experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a global or multinational organization.
Physical and working requirements
  • Ability to travel regularly between company locations and operating sites.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, chemical processing, recycling/refining and laboratory environments.
  • Ability to enter production areas, participate in inspections and investigations, and follow required PPE and site safety procedures.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, noise, chemicals, temperature variations and other manufacturing-related conditions.
  • Ability to use computers and standard office equipment and communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
