PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise the planning and execution of a program that considers the social, developmental and health needs of the group, as well as the individual child.
2. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with families.
3. Participate in scheduled meetings with families, colleagues, and schools’ interdisciplinary team.
4. Develop an appropriate plan by which information concerning the children and the program can be shared with the families.
5. Foster the belief in parents that they are their child’s first teacher and reinforce this concept with practical suggestions for its development.
6. Other related duties, as assigned, consistent with the above and including the fulfillment of the program.
7. Maintain Professional and Ethical Standards.
8. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Agency policy and legal requirements.
9. Be honest, reliable, and dependable.
10. Respect and maintain rights and privacy of all staff, parents, and children.
11. Attend mandated training(s) and meetings and seek out staff development opportunities.
12. Work as a team member with all staff and maintain a positive work ethic.
13. Act conscientiously in performing routine duties.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

1. Ability to write using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation; and to organize documents accurately.
2. Ability to effectively communicate with community members and groups, managers, regulatory agencies, and families both individually and in group settings.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in ECE Required.
2. Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Early Childhood setting (Preferably as a Lead Teacher).
3. Experience working with families and children ages 15 years.
4. Knowledgeable of NYS Prekindergarten Common Core Standards Required.
