Pratt & Whitney’s Auto Air Site EH&S organization seeks an experienced EH&S professional to support regulatory compliance across a multi-campus site in Lansing, MI. You will partner with line supervision, manage EH&S programs, audits, and incident response, while interacting with labor unions and management to drive improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and substantial EH&S experience; advanced degrees and Six Sigma/LEAN exposure are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in EH&S or related field and minimum 8 years of experience, or advanced degree with at least 5 years.
  • EH&S regulatory and management systems knowledge required.
  • Experience mentoring/training others in EH&S practices preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with line supervision to ensure regulatory EH&S compliance.
  • Support EH&S Council administration and track projects to completion.
  • Provide direction to line management for execution of EH&S goals.
  • Manage Health and Safety programs (Industrial Hygiene, Contractor Safety, Elevated Work, Emergency Response).
  • Participate in cross-functional projects with other groups within and outside EH&S.
  • Respond to onsite medical incidents and act as spill responder on rotating schedule.
  • Coordinate audits/inspections and develop corrective actions.
  • Analyze trends and develop preventive actions to improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate EH&S into business operations.
  • Assist line management with investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure EH&S training is conducted and support manufacturing floor activities

The Pratt & Whitney, Auto Air Site Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) organization is seeking an experienced environment, health, and safety (EH&S) Professional, looking for an opportunity to support and execute EH&S requirements, at a multi-campus site. The individual will interact extensively with labor union representatives, management, supervisors, hourly and salary employees on various projects and teams. This role is located at the P&W Auto Air Lansing, MI facility.

What You Will Do:
  • Partnering with the line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices.
  • Support the administration of an EH&S Council, including interfacing with subcommittees, updating performance trends, and tracking EH&S projects to completion.
  • Provide technical direction to line management including council subcommittee teams for effective execution of goals and objectives.
  • Program manager for Health and Safety programs such as Industrial Hygiene, Contractor Safety Management, Elevated Work, Emergency Response and other Health and Safety Programs.
  • Working on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups external to and within the core EH&S team.
  • Responds to onsite medical incidents.
  • Provide response/guidance as a spill responder on a rotating schedule.
  • Coordinate and conduct specialized Health and/or Safety audits and inspections of premises and operations in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant line management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements.
  • Conduct trend analysis for inspection/audits, injuries, spills, near hits and develop corrective/preventive actions to improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities to successfully integrate EH&S programs/activities into overall business operations with a focus on management system integration.
  • Participating in pollution prevention / waste reduction initiatives.
  • Assist line management with effective investigations and mistake proofing initiatives.
  • Assist line management with the identification and immediate correction of unsafe conditions or practices to prevent adverse impacts to the organization and company.
  • Provide and ensure EH&S training is conducted, assist as necessary.
  • Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years EH&S regulatory compliance experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • EH&S regulatory and management systems knowledge required.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
  • EH&S experience developing and implementing industry leading Safety and Health Program.
  • Mentoring and training experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Forming, facilitating, and maintaining internal and cross functional teams and relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g., CORE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired.
  • Capable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor and of providing team leadership when required to meet highly aggressive goals.
  • Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH.P.E. or CHMM, strongly desired.

This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
