Salary Range: $12.98 - $15.58 Hourly

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Teacher Assistants “in training” assist the Lead Teacher in planning, implementing, and administering the program in compliance with the Child Care Minimum Standards, Head Start performance standards, the Agency's school readiness goals, and all other federal, state, and local regulations relating to children ages three to five. All Teacher Assistants-in‑Training staff shall agree to abide by the program's Standards of Conduct introduced during pre‑service and/or orientation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning, implementing, and administering the program
- Ensure compliance with Child Care Minimum Standards, Head Start performance standards, and local regulations
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging educational environment for infants, toddlers, and their families
- Abide by program Standards of Conduct and essential functions of the role
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CDA Credential in Infant/Toddler preferred; if not certified, will be classified as EHS Teacher in Training and must obtain CDA within one year (RPMC covers cost)
- Willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with the Agency’s Drug-Free Policy
- Pass regular criminal history checks
- Submit to TB tests as required
- Provide reliable self-transportation for regional travel
- Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license with appropriate classification and endorsements
- Maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet insurability requirements

Physical Demands
- Regular lifting of infants, toddlers, classroom supplies, and equipment; occasional lifting of furniture
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or moving up to 25 pounds
- Frequent sitting on the floor and working at child level for extended periods
- Occasional squatting and bending
Work Environment
- Ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions
- Noise levels can be moderate to loud in the center environment
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and manage stress effectively
- Flexibility to work schedules as established by management
Travel Requirements
- Light to normal travel for field trips, meetings, classes, and workshops within and outside the service area
- Ability to drive occasionally long distances
- Must be able to travel by air when required for training, conferences, and related activities
