Job description

At Black Box, we’re not just constructing buildings — we’re shaping the digital backbone of tomorrow. As a Data Center EHS Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in one of the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives in the country: building the largest data center in the United States. This is your opportunity to lead from the front, overseeing every phase of the construction roadmap and ensuring flawless execution across project deliverables and timelines.

In this role, you’ll manage day-to-day operations by applying established PMO standards, processes, and methodologies. You’ll drive excellence, safety, and innovation on-site — setting new benchmarks for what’s possible in modern data center deployment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Enforce federal, state, and local standards (including OSHA and EPA guidelines) to maintain zero-citation project sites.
  • Site Management & Audits: Lead regular safety inspections, preconstruction meetings, and hazard analyses across single or multi-site projects.
  • Subcontractor & Team Coordination: Write trade-specific safety scopes of work, review subcontractor safety plans, and mentor field safety coordinators.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate near-misses, injuries, and property damage claims, while analyzing data to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Training & Culture: Deliver OSHA-10/30, First Aid/CPR, and specialized safety training while building a proactive "Living Injury Free Everyday" culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (though extensive field experience with credentials is often accepted).
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-hour training (or OSHA 510)
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) for senior/management tracks
  • Current First Aid, CPR, BBP, and AED certifications
  • Experience: Typically requires cross-functional knowledge of general construction or data center operations and progressive experience as a safety coordinator, specialist, or engineer
