Job summary

Opus Packaging – Indianapolis is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to oversee safety programs at the Whitestown, Indiana location. The role involves developing and enforcing health and safety policies, conducting trainings, and coordinating inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

The coordinator will also drive continuous improvement and support production efficiency and quality goals.

Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or GED.
OSHA Training for General Industry (30 hours).
LEAN/Continuous Improvement certification preferred.
ISO 9001 certifications preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or similar field preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with EHS Manager on health and safety policies.
Provide OSHA/EPA/DOT training for new hires and ongoing compliance.
Identify hazardous conditions; conduct on-site inspections and advise on compliance.
Investigate incidents; lead corrective actions and root cause analysis.
Coach onsite staff in accident investigation and safety measures.
Schedule Safety Committee meetings and support CI initiatives.
Assist productivity, material control, and quality goals as needed.
