Job summary

Twin City Fan & Blower is seeking an EHS professional to lead regulatory compliance and safety initiatives at our Brookings, SD facility. You will conduct risk assessments, manage permitting, and drive a culture of safety across operations and maintenance teams.

The role requires 3–7 years of EH&S experience in manufacturing, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Word and Excel. OSHA 30 General Industry certification is preferred, with ongoing emphasis on documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health preferred.
  • 3–7 years EH&S experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Environmental requirements.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with operations, HR, maintenance, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to ensure factory-wide OSHA regulatory compliance and foster a safety culture.
  • Conduct job safety and hazard analyses and recommend preventive actions.
  • Plan and administer safety activities, training, and documentation.
  • Manage local, state, and federal permits and reporting (e.g., Form R, Tier II).
  • Lead incident investigations and closure follow-ups; generate safety/environmental reports.
  • Collaborate with operations and research to identify risks and implement controls.
  • Provide leadership in health/safety hazard anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control.
  • Monitor and audit site activities to ensure S&H program adherence.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives to facilitate factory-wide, OSHA regulatory compliance and nurture a positive culture of safety within the factory.
  • Conduct job safety and hazard analyses of manufacturing operations and equipment and recommend preventative measures and corrective actions.
  • Plan, conduct and administer safety-related activities such as committee meetings, training, emergency response efforts, maintain documentation, etc.
  • Administration of all local, state and federal permitting and reporting (e.g., Form R, Tier II, etc.)
  • Assist with performing comprehensive incident investigations and follow up on closure of incident reports.
  • Generate periodic reports related to routine safety and environmental matters.
  • Work closely with operations and research groups to identify risks and proactively develop/implement control methodology for these risks.
  • Provide expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/ safety hazards and related compliance at the site.
  • Monitors and audits site related activities to ensure S&H programs are being adhered to.
  • Monitors employees and contractors for compliance with EHS program and training requirements.
  • Partner with safety committee to drive initiatives in manufacturing plants.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupation Safety and Health preferred
  • 3 – 7 years EH & S experience required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and familiarity with Environmental requirements
  • Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work well with all levels of operations, human resources personnel, maintenance personnel, supervision and management under the direction of the EHS Director to meet objectives.
  • Must be able to successfully work with all levels of operations to achieve facility goals. Work with manufacturing plant management and safety team to achieve desired safety goals.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations and Training
  • Industrial Hygiene Sampling procedures
  • OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel spreadsheet applications.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
  • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles, caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
