Job summary

James Hardie is seeking an EHS Coordinator to support a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing environment. This hands-on role collaborates with operations to strengthen safety culture and drive continuous improvement.

You will conduct safety audits, assist with investigations, coordinate EHS training, and support environmental programs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies across our facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• 1–3 years of related safety experience required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.

Summary

We are seeking an EHS Coordinator to support a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands‑on professional who thrives in a fast‑paced setting and is passionate about safety and continuous improvement. You’ll support EHS programs, training, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions while partnering with operations to strengthen our safety culture.

What You’ll Do

As an EHS Coordinator, you will support and promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. You’ll conduct safety audits, assist with incident and near‑miss investigations, coordinate EHS training, support environmental programs, and partner with operations to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.

• Ability to comprehend and interpret regulatory requirements (e.g. OSHA, NFPA,NEC).
• Participate in accident and near-miss investigations, evaluate root causes of these events, make recommendations for prevention based on best practices.
• Assist in the implementation of agreed upon best practices under the guidance of the EHS Manager.
• Perform safety compliance audits to identify problems areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions as needed. Must comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulation. Follow up using good management techniques to ensure problems are resolved.
• Establish strong working relationships with production and support staff, relevant managers, and consultants.
• Assist with facility environmental programs in the areas of waste minimization/source reduction, recycling, residual waste, universal waste and wastewater management.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
• Ensure all employees, both hourly and management; receive all training necessary to safely perform their respective duties. This includes training for managers on programs they are required to implement.
• Conduct new-hire orientations and regulatory ESH training.
• Maintain, update, and manage all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
• Provide oversight for EHS capital project work.
• Communicate and implement EHS best practices across the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor degree preferred in Occupational Health & Safety or a technical field (environmental, chemistry, biology, etc.) with training in core Environmental, Health and Safety disciplines
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Working knowledge of production equipment and safety practices.
• 1 to 3 years of related safety experience required.
• Knowledge of PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Access, and Outlook.
• Hands‑on and self‑motivated; ability to manage multiple projects.
• Technical and project management skills.
• Ability to make decisions and work independently.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Working knowledge of production equipment and safety practices.

What You’ll Receive

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $65k to $80k. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
