Job summary

Haynes International is seeking an EHS Support role in Kokomo, IN to help the Safety and Environmental Health (EHS) department meet Federal, State, and local regulations affecting employee safety, health, and the environment.

The role requires an AS in Science with a focus on Safety and 3 years in safety within manufacturing; familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO 14001/45001; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• AS in Science with focus on Safety or equivalent required.
• 3 years in safety in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO 14001/45001; industrial hygiene and ergonomics knowledge.
• Strong communication, organizational, computer and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist EHS with safety compliance and ISO certification.
• Prepare Monthly Supervisor Safety Meetings and presentations.
• Coordinate PPE ordering, safety signage, and distribution.
• Track incidents and frequency rates for Kokomo location using EHS Insight & Intelex.
• Coordinate and conduct contractor briefings; ensure materials are ready.
• Maintain annual safety training schedule and verify employee trainings.
• Approve Rx Safety Glasses orders and liaise with vendors on eligibility.
• Enter purchase requisitions, purchase orders and process invoices.
• Champion Safety Footwear program logistics including boot truck visits and returns.
• File EHS documents and support other related tasks as needed.

About the Role :

This role will support the EHS Department’s compliance efforts with all Federal, State and local EHS regulations with respect to employee safety, health and environmental issues.

Qualifications :

Education: AS in Science with focus on Safety or equivalent (P)

Experience: 3 years in safety supporting a manufacturing environment (P)

Areas of Knowledge: OSHA (P), NFPA (P), ANSI (P), ISO 14001/45001 (P), industrial hygiene (P), ergonomics (P), PPE (P)

Skills: Communications, organizational, computer and problem solving.

Role Responsibilities :

• Effectively assist the EHS Department with safety compliance and ISO certification.
• Assist in preparing the Monthly Supervisor Safety Meetings and other presentations
• Assist with PPE and Safety signage ordering and distribution
• Assist with the tracking of incidents and frequency rates for the Kokomo location utilizing data in EHS Insight and Intelex.
• Coordinate and conduct contractor briefings as necessary. Ensure materials are prepared and available at all times.
• Assist with the annual safety training schedule. Track and verify that all employees are up to date with the required safety training.
• Rx Safety Glasses order approvals and work with vendor for employee eligibility.
• Assist the EHS Department with entering purchase requisitions, purchase orders and invoice tracking.
• Champion Safety Footwear program- including, coordinating boot truck visits, boot ordering, boot returns and billing.
• File EHS documents (paper and digital) and assist with all other EHS related tasks and duties as requested.
