Job summary

BME Fire Trucks is a family-owned wildland fire apparatus manufacturer seeking an EHS Coordinator to support compliance, inspections, training, environmental programs, documentation, and daily safety oversight across production, warehouse, and office areas.

You will lead incident documentation, environmental programs, and training records, coordinate with the EHS Manager, and drive continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, waste reduction, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA and manufacturing safety practices preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and maintain documentation.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily facility walkthroughs.
  • Identify hazards, spills, leaks, trip hazards, housekeeping concerns, and unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect waste, recycling, scrap, and hazardous waste areas.
  • Communicate findings and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with Safety Committee meetings and recordkeeping.
  • Support environmental compliance programs and documentation.
  • Maintain training records and track certifications and training compliance.

We are hiring an EHS Coordinator to serve as the primary field and administrative support position for the EHS Department by assisting with compliance, inspections, training, environmental programs, documentation, and daily safety oversight. As EHS Coordinator your responsibilities will include:

Safety & Facility Oversight
  • Conduct daily facility walkthroughs.
  • Identify hazards, spills, leaks, trip hazards, housekeeping concerns, and unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect waste, recycling, scrap, and hazardous waste areas.
  • Communicate findings and support corrective actions.
Inspection Programs

Supports inspections for:

  • Fire extinguishers
  • Eyewash stations
  • Emergency lighting
  • Exit signs
  • Ladders
  • Forklifts
  • PPE stations
  • Spill kits
  • Housekeeping
  • Hazardous waste areas
  • Safety signage
Safety Committee Support
  • Assist with meeting preparation and administration.
  • Track action items.
  • Support inspections and employee concerns.
  • Follow up on corrective actions.
Environmental Compliance
  • Support hazardous waste management.
  • Assist with stormwater and spill prevention programs.
  • Support recycling and waste segregation initiatives.
  • Maintain environmental documentation and records.
Training & Employee Development
  • Assist with new hire onboarding.
  • Support OSHA-required training.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Track certifications and training compliance.
Incident Management
  • Document incidents and near misses.
  • Assist investigations.Collect evidence and photographs.
  • Track corrective actions through completion.
Documentation & Compliance

Maintain:

  • Inspection records

  • Safety Committee documentation

Continuous Improvement

Requirements
Qualifications

Physical Requirements
  • Daily walking through production, warehouse, office, and yard areas.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work indoors and outdoors.
