About the Role

Prolec GE Waukesha is seeking an EHS Technician to support daily Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance across our manufacturing operations. This is a high‑visibility, floor‑based role that plays a critical part in maintaining a safe workplace, preventing incidents, and reinforcing a strong safety culture aligned with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the site EHS leader and supported by EHS specialists, the EHS Technician is responsible for auditing compliance, validating corrective actions, reviewing high‑risk work authorizations, and ensuring adherence to OSHA and company EHS standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily EHS audits of equipment and job tasks, including Lock Out/Tag Out, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, work at heights, cranes and hoists, combustible dust, and powered industrial trucks
  • Perform 5S audits to promote safe, organized work environments
  • Review EHS accountabilities with Supervisors and Team Leaders
  • Verify and track closure of audit findings and corrective actions
  • Review and control authorizations for high‑risk and non‑routine work (work at heights, confined space entry, electrical work, etc.)
  • Support contractor and non‑routine work compliance assessments
  • Participate in immediate incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective actions
  • Support daily audit schedules and maintain compliance metrics and reporting
  • Track and report EHS KPIs such as OSHA recordables, audit completion rates, and permit deviations
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety alerts, and EHS communications
  • Support emergency response activities as required
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry standards
  • Experience auditing operational environments and high‑risk safety programs
  • Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification
  • Training in high‑risk safety programs (LOTO, confined space, electrical safety, work at heights, hot work, cranes & hoists, emergency response, GHS)
  • ASP, CSP, or CIH certification (obtained or in progress)
  • Manufacturing or industrial safety experience
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily shop‑floor based with some office time in a large manufacturing facility
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds
