Job Description

The Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygienist/Project Manager performs professional environmental consulting services for a wide range of industrial, maritime, and commercial clients. The work requires a professional knowledge of environmental science, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety principles, methods, and techniques. An understanding of chemistry, biological sciences, and public health relevant to environmental remediation projects involving lead, asbestos, mold is essential. The role involves recognizing and evaluating health hazards related to catastrophic property loss caused by storms and flooding, as well as chemical releases and oil spills.

Essential Functions

  • Apply professional environmental science competence with specialized knowledge in chemistry, industrial hygiene, and biological sciences. Collaborate effectively within a team to address client EH&S concerns and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel by air, sea, and land at short notice to project sites.
  • Obtain and maintain licenses in multiple states for mold, lead, and asbestos assessments.
  • Work as part of a team under the guidance of a Project Manager.
  • Handle multiple projects at various stages of completion.
  • Prepare studies and reports following standard formats and procedures.
  • Investigate, measure, and evaluate environmental, health, and safety conditions at client locations, conducting relevant research and planning to produce comprehensive reports for review by senior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Geology, or Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of EH&S experience. Specialized degrees may permit waiving experience requirements.
  • Ohio Asbestos Building Inspector License
  • Ohio Asbestos Management Planner and Project Designer (recommended)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • TWIC card eligibility

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Ability to sit for long periods
  • Comfortable working in a remote and/or hybrid environment
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours if needed
  • Willingness to travel
