Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to support Aurora and Rockford generating plants. The role provides leadership for environmental, industrial hygiene, safety, and NERC compliance programs, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, IEPA, and other regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
• 5+ years EH&S leadership experience in power/industrial settings.
• Knowledge of OSHA, USEPA, IEPA, and NERC regulations.
• Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage EH&S programs across both facilities.
• Plan, direct, and manage health, safety, and environmental policies and programs.
• Serve as primary point-of-contact for environmental, safety, and health matters; coordinate with corporate Safety/Environmental teams.
• Perform environmental and safety data collection, monitoring, reporting, and permit reviews.
• Oversee incident investigations using RCA tools and track corrective actions.
• Track and analyze safety/environmental performance and drive improvements.
• Manage subcontractors for EH&S services and equipment; ensure regulatory compliance.
