Job summary

VYBOND SPECIALTY ADHESIVES LLC in Kentucky seeks an experienced EHS leader to drive safety performance across the site, lead incident investigations, and coordinate regulatory compliance. You will develop training, manage audits, insure OSHA/EPA NFPA compliance, and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to continuously improve safety outcomes.

The role requires a four-year degree in a safety-related field, CSP or equivalent certification preferred, and 7+ years of manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications or ability to qualify.
  • CSP or other safety certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred (green or black belt).
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental, industrial hygiene, occupational health and/or safety in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA and related regulatory requirements.
  • Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of safety, industry hygiene and environmental testing methods.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities; ability to influence.
  • Data-driven decision making and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Drive environmental, health and safety performance at the site and leadership levels.
  • Lead incident investigations, CAPA, and corrective actions with closure.
  • Provide EHS training and coordinate regulatory compliance programs.
  • Oversee audits, inspections, risk assessments, SOPs and MOC/PSSR processes.
  • Prepare EHS reports and track leading/lagging indicators.
  • Support emergency preparedness and 24/7 on-call duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to improve safety performance.

Drive awareness and accountability for environmental, health and safety performance through all levels of the site.2. Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health.3. Promote and participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training.4. Lead plant incident and plant non-conformance investigations, determine appropriate corrective actions and preventative actions, and ensure closure of actions. Reapply key learnings and recommendations from global incidents as applicable.5. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response activities6. Lead internal and external inspections of the facility to assess and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, insurance and internal safety requirements7. Maintain ISO compliant safety and environmental compliance records, including OSHA Logs and Permit Requirements8. Develop, create, track, and deliver safety training to employees as required, including coordination of new hire and external regulatory training.9. Effectively interact with all internal functional job levels and with external agencies and resources in order to maximize the effectiveness of the safety improvement process10. Conduct facility audits to identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures. Oversee Safety Concerns and Near Misses reported by employees to ensure completion.11. Create/review/implement Policies, Risk Assessments, SOPs and work instructions related to EHS in support of Berry EHS Program and Regulatory Requirements12. Oversee the Management of Change (MOC)/Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR) program. Partner with project leads to provide EHS input into project planning.13. Provide regular EHS reports to management; identify leading and lagging indicator trends by analyzing near miss, workplace observation, corrective action preventive action (CAPA), and injury/illness data. Recommend corrective actions as determined.14. Approve new chemical purchases and maintain SDS sheets, Hazard Communication program and environmental reporting.15. Provide Front Line Leaders with Safety Topics for Daily, Weekly and Monthly EHS meetings/talks.16. Assist in management of Contractor Management Program at the location17. Assist in the administration of the Workers Compensation Program18. Perform other duties as directed by the Plant Director, VP of Operations or Regional/Corporate EHS leadership.19. Maintain and increase professional knowledge and expertise related to the fields of environmental protection, occupational health, and industrial safety through annual professional development20. Ability to travel 0-25% of the time.21. The above duties are representative of the nature and level of the work and are not necessarily all-inclusive.22. Willingness and ability to provide 24/7 on call support for emergencies.Other Responsibilities:1. Perform additional responsibilities as needed.Qualifications:1. Current or able to qualify for CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications.3. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety certification preferred.4. Minimum 7+ years of experience in direct Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and/or Safety experience in a manufacturing environment6. Applied knowledge and working understanding of federal/county EHS requirements (i.e.; OSHA, EPA, NFPA), regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, EHS training, hazard reviews and job safety analysis7. Knowledge of safety, industry hygiene and environmental testing methods8. Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills9. Direct EHS experience must include leading and influencing industrial sites and organizations10. Strong leadership, communication, influencing and collaborative skills11. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.12. Takes responsibility for actions, respects confidentiality, completes commitments on time, and uses data to support decisions13. Self-motivated to improve processes and performance.
