Job summary

K2 Space is seeking an EH&S Leader to build the safety program from the ground up for its high-growth satellite manufacturing environment. You will design and lead safety strategy, compliance, and day-to-day execution across manufacturing floors, cleanrooms, and labs.

Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing, you’ll partner with Manufacturing, Facilities, and Engineering to scale safety programs as production increases and a culture of safety takes hold. This role is onsite in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years EH&S in manufacturing, industrial, or aerospace/hardware environments with 2+ years leading a function.
• Deep knowledge of Cal/OSHA, OSHA, and California hazmat/waste regulations.
• Direct experience with hazmat handling, industrial hygiene, and chemical safety programs.
• Experience leading incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Willingness to work hands-on on a manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

• Build and own EH&S program end-to-end (policies, procedures, training) for a high-growth manufacturing environment.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA, EPA, DTSC hazmat regulations, including IIPP and Title 8/22.
• Lead industrial hygiene and exposure monitoring for chemicals, composites, coatings, and hazards.
• Own cleanroom, lab, and shop safety programs, PPE standards, and lockout/tagout.
• Manage hazmat handling, storage, labeling, and disposal; permits and reporting.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action tracking for injuries and incidents.
• Manage workers' compensation in partnership with People team and insurers.
• Design and deliver EH&S training for new hires and staff across disciplines.
• Develop emergency preparedness and response plans for growing facilities.
• Define systems to track EHS tasks and report metrics to leadership.
• Serve as primary contact for EH&S inspections and audits (Cal/OSHA, fire marshal).
• Partner with Facilities on ergonomic assessments and safety infrastructure.
