Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is seeking an EHS Engineer/Specialist at our Calvert, AL site to ensure day-to-day compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental, Health and Safety program, maintaining ISO and EPA certifications. The role reports to the VP of Quality and EHS and the General Manager at Calvert.

The position leads safety initiatives, audits, incident investigations and training, collaborating with facility supervisors to drive continuous improvement and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with at least two years of experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and write reports.
• Proficient with database, risk management, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety walkthroughs and implement improvements to safety issues.
• Maintain safety documentation including SDS records.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and monitor regulation changes.
• Lead investigations of incidents and safety trainings.
• Serve as primary safety/quality resource to supervisors for problem identification and continuous improvement.
• Maintain ISO system and participate in ISO audits.

We are looking for a EHS Engineer/Specialist for our Calvert AL location with responsibility for ensuring day-to-day compliance with Primetals Quality Management System and Environmental, Health and Safety Program at the local level to maintain ISO and EPA certifications. This position reports to organizational level VP of Quality and EHS for Primetals Technologies USA and functional level to General Manager in Calvert AL location, ensuring alignment with both strategic goals and operational objectives.

Essential Functions

EHS

• Perform and document plant safety walkthroughs and implement corrections and improvements to safety issues.
• Manage and maintain all safety related documentation including SDS records.
• Maintain Regulatory Agency(s) compliance and monitors regulation changes and revisions.
• Facility Management Representative (MR) for regulatory and non-regulatory compliance audits/assessments.
• Make personal protection equipment recommendations for various functions throughout the plant.
• Leads the investigation of local environmental and/or safety related incidents and may be responsible for thorough investigations of complex incidents at the regional level.
• Provide weekly safety theme topics for department supervisors to discuss with employees.
• Resolve safety related issues.
• Develop and lead in safety related training programs.

Additional Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary safety / quality assurance resource to facility supervisors, team leaders and employees for problem identification, resolution, nonconformance reporting, calibration and continuous improvement.
• Maintain ISO System and participate in internal and external ISO Audits.
• Maintain and Monitor Nonconformance Reporting System and Customer Complaint Reporting System

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities

• Education and/or Experience : Bachelors degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related discipline; and least two (2) years related experience; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Reasoning Ability : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills : Knowledge of database software; risk management software; project management software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
