Job summary

Exeter Hospital, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, seeks a Nursing Assistant to provide constant patient observation under RN supervision in a busy Emergency Department.

Responsibilities include vital signs, ADL support, and reporting changes in patient status while maintaining safety and quality care for diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NH State Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) license required.
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Strong customer service skills expected.
• 0–6 months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and constant visual observation of patients for safety under RN supervision.
• Perform LNA responsibilities as required or needed.
• Provide constant observation to patients who are suicidal by video monitoring or direct visualization.
• Alert nurse if there is a change in patient behavior or response that observer is concerned about.
• Review observation care plan with the nurse at start and end of shift.
• May report food and/or liquid intake.
• Perform duties within the scope of LNA, e.g. vital signs, assistance with ADLs.

The Emergency Department at Exeter Hospital cares for a diverse patient population with a wide range of medical needs. With annual volumes of approximately 33,000 patients, the department is one of the busiest in the Seacoast area. In addition to the main Emergency Department, comprised of 21 beds, there is a 6-bed Minor Care area.

Provide direct and constant visual observation of patients for their safety under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Perform LNA responsibilities as required or needed.
