Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Prior teaching experience in a K-12 setting and/or higher education.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices, strategies, classroom management, lesson planning, student engagement, and assessment.
  • Ability to teach and facilitate learning for adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate K-12 experience into adult/postsecondary learning contexts.

Job description

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Prior professional teaching experience in a K-12 educational setting and/or higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching practices, instructional strategies, classroom management, lesson planning, student engagement, and assessment.
  • Ability to effectively teach and facilitate learning for adult learners from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to model effective instructional practices and translate K-12 teaching experience into strategies applicable to adult and postsecondary learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Teaching, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of K-12 classroom teaching experience.
  • Current or previous state teaching license/certification.
  • Experience providing professional development, teacher training, mentoring, instructional coaching, or faculty development.
  • Experience teaching adult learners or providing instruction in a community college, higher education, or continuing education setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and student assessment.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), online instruction, and educational technology.

The Effective Teacher Training (ETT) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction designed to prepare current and prospective educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to create effective and engaging learning environments. The instructor will provide practical, real-world guidance based on K-12 teaching experience and current instructional practices.

This position supports participants who may include new community college faculty, adjunct instructors, continuing education instructors, industry professionals transitioning into teaching, new teachers, K-12 substitute teachers and others seeking to strengthen their instructional skills.

Deliver classroom, online, and/or hybrid instruction in Effective Teacher Training topics, including:

o Learning principles for diverse populations (K-12 and/or higher education)

o Lesson planning and course design

o Active learning techniques

o Classroom management

o Assessment and evaluation

o Effective communication

o Creating inclusive learning environments

o Teaching with technology

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with established course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Model effective instructional strategies and classroom practices that participant can apply within their own teaching environments.
  • Provide practical examples and strategies based on K-12 classroom teaching experience.
  • Facilitate discussions, collaborative learning activities, and opportunities for participants to apply instructional concepts.
  • Evaluate participant learning through assignments, activities, discussions, assessments, and other appropriate methods.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback, support, and guidance to participants.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management, communication, and student engagement techniques.
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology and learning management systems into course delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participant progress as required.
  • Promote professionalism, ethical conduct, inclusivity, and respect within the learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Montgomery Community College policies and Continuing Education requirements.
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education staff and college administration as needed.
  • Participate in course review, assessment, and improvement activities when requested.
