Job summary

HealthNet is seeking an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) at our Indianapolis, IN location. The role involves assisting under the dentist, performing restoration placement/finishing, coronal polishing, fluoride application, radiographs, and minor lab tasks. Dental radiology and DANB certification are required, with CPR/BLS training preferred.

Spanish bilingual ability is highly valued. Full-time schedule includes varied shifts, with potential travel to other HealthNet locations.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma.
• Completion of radiology course or accredited dental assisting program.
• Maintain a DANB certification.
• Requires X-ray certification.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Coronal Polishing certification not required but appreciated.
• 1–2 years of dental assistant experience or formal training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operatory and/or operating room for treatment as planned by the dentist.
• Escort patients to the clinical area, complete intake assessment, and assist during clinical care.
• Perform placement and finishing of dental restorations, coronal polishing, and fluoride application.
• Observe and communicate patient conditions with providers for initial assessment.
• Take X-rays and review patient health history.
• Perform dental lab functions as assigned.
• Assist with airway management and monitor patient status during anesthesia/sedation.
• Maintain patient charts and records.
