Certification Reimbursement
What you'll do as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) at HealthNet:
In addition to the responsibilities of a Dental Assistant directed by the dentist or clinical manager, the EFDA performs placement and finishing of dental restorations such as fillings, sealants, and makes temporary crowns and bridges.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operatory and/or clinical work area for treatment as planned by the dentist.
- Escort patients to the clinical area, complete intake assessments, and assist during clinical care, including Expanded Function tasks.
- Perform placement and finishing of dental restorations, coronal polishing, and fluoride application.
- Observe, document, and communicate patient conditions with providers for initial assessment.
- Take x-rays and review the patient's health history.
- Perform dental lab functions as assigned.
- Manage airway and monitor patient during anesthesia/sedation as directed.
- Maintain patient records accurately and assist the dentist in charting.
Work Locations
- FLOAT to all dental locations in Indianapolis, IN: Barrington, People's, Southwest, Speedway.
Work Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday: 10am-7pm; Tuesday-Friday: 8am-5pm

Minimum Requirements
- No work visa sponsorship
- High School Diploma
- Completion of radiology course or accredited dental assisting program
- Maintain DANB certification
- X-ray certification
- CPR/BLS certification
- Coronal Polishing certification (preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of dental instruments and procedures
- 1-2 years of experience or formal training as a dental assistant
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work with diverse and medically compromised patients
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Flexible, reliable, bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20-30 pounds
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting
- Ability to lift and move equipment and patients safely
- Good eyesight (corrected or uncorrected 20/30)
- Effective communication skills in English
