Job summary

Reston Hospital Center, part of HCA Healthcare, Inc., is seeking an EEG Technician PRN to perform standard and special neurodiagnostic recordings following ACNS guidelines. The role involves routine EEG, 24-hour EEG, evoked potentials, SSEP, BAEP, VEP, and assisting with EMGs as needed.

The position emphasizes accurate patient data logging, triaging orders by urgency, adaptable instrumentation, and providing clear explanations to patients and families using AIDET principles.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Summarize patient neurological status and clinical history from the medical chart, patient or other knowledgeable persons.
• Accurately maintain the daily patient log.
• Ability to triage patient orders by criticality.
• AIDET all day every day: Explains the procedures to the patient and any family members present.
• Adapt instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and test findings.
• Provides appropriate patient care and detailed observation of clinical manifestations during seizures or other patient emergencies.

Job Summary

Perform standard and special procedure neurodiagnostic recordings following (ACNS) American Clinical Neurophysiology Society Guideline s. (https://www.acns.org/practice/guidelines). The neurodiagnostic procedures consist of routine EEG, critical care EEG (24-hour continuous) evoked potentials (EP), somatosensory (SSEP), brainstem auditory (BAEP) and visual (VEP). Assist physicians performing EMGs (electromyograms) when needed.

• Summarize patient neurological status and clinical history.




• Summarizes the patient’s neurological status and clinical history from the medical chart, patient or other knowledgeable persons.




• Accurately maintain the daily patient log.




• Ability to triage patient orders by criticality.




• Assess and document contraindications for performed photic stimulation and hyperventilation.




• AIDET all day every day: Explains the procedures to the patient and any family members present.




• Adapt instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and test findings.




• Provides appropriate patient care and detailed observation of clinical manifestations during seizures or other patient emergency situations.




• Logs in appropriate patient data, enters orders, processes charges and prepares tests for interpretation by neurologist.
