Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking an EEG Technician (EEG Tech) to perform studies, monitor brain activity, and support critical care in the Electrocardiology Department on a per diem basis.

Shifts are Days, 8-hour blocks 7:00am–3:30pm, with patient-focused testing and careful equipment setup. The ideal candidate has at least 6 months EEG experience, an ABRET certification, and an Electroneurodiagnostic technology degree or equivalent; BCLS certification required on hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for EEG procedures and explain the process.
• Apply electrodes using the 10–20 system and monitor signals.
• Conduct routine, sleep-deprived, ICU and intraoperative EEG recordings.
• Identify abnormalities such as seizure activity in recordings.
• Assist during long-term or emergency neuro-monitoring.
• Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with physicians to support diagnoses.
• Ensure patient safety during procedures and seizures.

We are seeking a n EEG Technician (EEG Tech), sometimes referred to as an Electroencephalogram Technician , Neurodiagnostic Technician or EEG Tech in our Electrocardiology Department. The EEG Tech will diagno se neurological conditions by preparing patients, conducting EEG tests, and monitoring brain activity. They work closely with physicians to identify abnormalities, ensure patient safety, and support critical care through accurate testing and equipment maintenance. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed .

Responsibilities

If you have at least 6 months experience in EEG and are cerified, you are encouraged to apply!

• Prepare patients for Electroencephalogram ( EEG ) procedures by explaining the process, taking medical history, and ensuring comfort
• Apply electrodes using the 10–20 system and monitor equipment for accurate signal capture
• Conduct EEG recordings including routine, sleep-deprived, ICU, and intraoperative monitoring
• Identify and document abnormalities such as seizure activity or unusual brain wave patterns
• Assist during long-term or emergency monitoring for neurological events or brain death evaluations
• Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues
• Collaborate with physicians to support diagnoses of epilepsy, brain injuries, tumors, and other medical conditions
• Ensure patient safety by monitoring during procedures and responding to seizures or emergencies

Qualifications

• 6 months experience as an EEG technician required
• Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic technology from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs required
• Certification from the American Board of Registered Electroencephalographic Technologies (ABRET) required
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Completion of educational program for EEG technicians preferred
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
