Job summary

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital seeks an EEG/LTM Tech Watcher to observe patients on video and EEGs, alert staff to recording issues, and enhance patient safety during seizures or questionable events. Role involves equipment maintenance and EMR documentation within the Neuro-Science Center.

The position is full-time, days, located at Florida, Miami, with active participation in departmental meetings and ongoing education through conferences and lab activities.

Qualifications

• American Heart Association BLS – must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• High School Education or equivalent preferred.
• Prior work experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients on video and EEGs.
• Alert appropriate personnel of problems with EEG recording.
• Provide an additional level of patient safety as first responders, alerting seizure activity or questionable events.
• Clean and keep equipment in good operating condition; perform maintenance and minor repairs and report major repairs.
• Summarize the patient’s neurological status and clinical history from the chart, patient, or other knowledgeable persons.
• Participate actively in conferences, technical meetings and other educational activities.
• Ensure attendance at 85% of Departmental meetings.
• Document EMR meaningful use fields to optimize utilization.
• Participate in Quality Improvement and Safety Improvement activities.
