The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking Technologists I, II, and III to perform EEG and EMG diagnostics. General Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Technologist I

• Performs EEG and EMG NCV under the supervision of the Technologists II & III.
• Electroencephalography: Independently perform high quality diagnostic EEGs on both adult and pediatric patients using the EEG system. Obtain EEG tracings, as well as identify and minimize artifacts. Visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential acquisition will also be required.
• Ability to calm nervous and/or pediatric patients is essential. Occasional sedation of the patient will be necessary to obtain a diagnostic quality test, so must be able to work with an RN or physician to accomplish this.
• Schedule EEG tests. Responsible for patient safety during the exam and must perform CPR and call a code when necessary. Bring any abnormalities to the attention of the physician.
• Electromyography Technician: Independently perform high quality diagnostic EMGs on both adult and pediatric patients. Ability to calm nervous patients is essential. Schedule EMG tests. Responsible for patient safety during the exam and must perform CPR and call a code when necessary. Operates EMG instrument to measure and record electrical activity in peripheral nerves in use by physicians for diagnosing neuromuscular disorders. Monitors response and records nerve conduction velocity, time and distance during testing manually or using a computer. Applies and removes electrodes from patients and cleans equipment at conclusion of test. Bring any abnormalities to the attention of the physician.
• Patient Education: Instructs patient in any pre‑test preparation required. Explain test to patient prior to testing. Obtain written consent when necessary. Answer any questions the patient may have.

Technologist II

• Frequent demand to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Electroencephalography: Independently perform high quality diagnostic EEGs on both adult and pediatric patients using the EEG system. Obtain EEG tracings, as well as identify and minimize artifacts. Visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential acquisition will also be required. The ability to calm nervous and/or pediatric patients is essential. Occasional sedation of the patient will be necessary to obtain a diagnostic quality test, so must be able to work with an RN or physician to accomplish this. Schedule EEG tests. Technologist (Lead) III

• Highly skilled and able to perform complex audit activities. Oversees training and competencies for Technologists I & II.
• Electroencephalography: Independently perform high quality diagnostic EEGs on both adult and pediatric patients using the EEG system. Obtain EEG tracings, as well as identify and minimize artifacts. Visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential acquisition will also be required. The ability to calm nervous patients and/or pediatric patients is essential. Occasional sedation of the patient will be necessary to obtain a diagnostic quality test, so must be able to work with an RN or physician to accomplish this. Schedule EEG tests. • Billing/Filing: Completes all related billing and medical documentation in a timely fashion. Maintains daily logs of studies performed. Assures proper archival of all studies according to local laws. Retrieves previous studies and makes current studies available for physician interpretation. Archives studies from the system as needed.

Minimum Education Qualification

A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum Experience Qualification

• Technologist I Non‑supervisory – One year of work experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
• Technologist II Non‑supervisory – Minimum one (1) year of department experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience. Supervisory – One (1) year involving employee supervision or equivalent experience.
• Technologist III Non‑supervisory – Three (3) years’ experience working as a Technologist. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience. Supervisory – Two (2) years involving employee supervision.

Minimum Certification Qualification

• All – Certification in Basic Life Support required.
• Technologist II – Electroencephalographic Technologist Certification in the field required within 2 years of hire.
• Technologist III – Electroencephalographic Technologist Certification required prior to holding this position.

Additional Requirements

According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional specific technical certifications.
