Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Neurodiagnostic Technologist to perform electroencephalography (EEG) and other neurodiagnostic examinations under physician orders and department supervision. The role emphasizes accuracy, patient comfort, and safety in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred for Neurodiagnostic technologists.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or eligible to obtain.
  • Minimum three years of related neurodiagnostic experience with an Associates degree; or five years without an Associates degree. Eligible to take the National Registry exam.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and record physician orders for patient testing; schedule patients and document medical history.
  • Prepare patients, explain procedures, identify electrode sites and apply electrodes.
  • Perform advanced neurodiagnostic exams, maintain equipment, and make minor adjustments as needed.
  • May schedule other technologists, assist department manager, and supervise less-experienced staff.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety; adhere to Memorial Hermann policies and budget constraints.
  • Support education and professional development; act as preceptor and mentor to staff.
  • Demonstrate compassionate, personalized patient experiences and uphold service standards.
  • Contribute to department goals and quality of service; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Position is responsible for performing electroencephalograph (EEG) and other neurodiagnostic examinations according to physician’s orders under the supervision of the department manager.

Job Description Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Associates degree, preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support certification
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum three (3) years directly related experience and an Associates degree from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program; or five (5) years' experience if no Associates degree. Eligible to take the National Registry exam.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Receives and records physician’s orders for patient testing: schedules patients, obtains patient medical history and completes appropriate documentation.
  • Prepares patients for procedures explains procedure, measures for accurate electrode sites, applies electrodes and adjusts as appropriate.
  • Performs advanced neurodiagnostic exams depending on modality maintains equipment and makes minor adjustments as indicated.
  • May be responsible for scheduling other techs, assisting the department manager as needed, and performing entry-level supervisory duties.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
