Job summary

Badger Meter is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team and support electrical design and testing of innovative smart water products, including a new ultrasonic flow-meter platform. You will gain hands-on experience in electrical design, prototyping, circuit testing, troubleshooting, embedded systems, and technical documentation.

This is an onsite, 40-hour-per-week summer internship at our Milwaukee facility.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Sophomore status or higher preferred.
• Completed Circuits I and II and digital logic coursework.
• Basic understanding of analog and digital circuits and electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with or willingness to learn C/C++.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical schematic design, prototyping, and hardware development.
• Support electrical product testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis.
• Develop and execute electrical test and verification procedures.
• Collect, analyze, and document test data and results.
• Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and function generators.
• Support embedded-system development and testing using STM32 and C/C++.
• Assist with circuit simulation using LTspice, PSpice, or similar tools.
• Support engineering test fixture improvements and hardware design changes.
• Participate in engineering design reviews and provide technical input.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, test procedures, and project updates.
• Support Design Verification activities and engineering project deliverables.
• Learn and apply principles of ultrasonic flow dynamics and physics to product development.
• Support additional engineering projects, tasks, and assignments as directed.
