Job Overview
RWJBH is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner / Clinical Educator for our Oncology areas at the Morris Cancer Center at New Brunswick campus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
- At least 5 years of nursing experience in oncology inpatient & outpatient areas.
- Certification in nursing specialty of the given NPDP role (required)
- 2 years of experience in nursing specialty of the given NPDP role (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- MSN or enrollment in MSN program nearing completion or Doctorate preferred
- NPDPs for certain specialty areas may also have job specific qualifications, when appropriate
Certifications and Licenses Required
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
Scheduling Requirements
- Day Shift
- Monday - Friday with some weekend commitment required
- Full Time
Essential Functions
- Plan and design orientation plans, develop and provide continuing education, and conduct in‑service programs in accordance with NJ Board of Nursing regulations, Code of Ethics, and institutional guidelines.
- Implement and evaluate educational activities/programs for dedicated orientees.
- Develop and maintain employee records.
- Serve as a resource for education and promote education in the Nursing Division.
- Maintain competencies required by regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and deliver education ensuring quality and best practice.
- Design, implement, and evaluate education and training programs using adult learning principles; maintain compliance with regulatory and Provider Unit standards, including contact hour programs and in‑service education.
- Assess and identify skills appropriate for competency validation.
- Disseminate information to departments regarding education/training programs offered by RWJBarnabas Health.
- Provide opportunities for enhancing staff knowledge on high risk and problem-prone situations.
- Facilitate professional role development and practice role transitions, including the RN Residency Program, nurse externship, and nursing student experiences.
- Represent nursing professional development specialty in hospital-wide/system-wide committees and councils; disseminate information accordingly.
- Facilitate experiences and learning opportunities for nurse externs and nursing students.
- Promote and assist in scholarly inquiry.
- Contribute to improving quality services and productivity.
- Lead NPD initiatives for translating evidence-based findings into practice research.
